The Chutes trail on the edged of North Cheyenne Canon park soon will be mountain bikers only and one-way. “It is something new to our community and something we actually have been involved in conversations with the community over the last couple of years,” said Colorado Springs Parks, Senior Landscape Architect, David Deitemeyer. He says the idea for this was proposed by community members during the process of creating a new master plan for the park.
North Cheyenne Canon has many trails that are only for hikers. The Chutes is one of the trails most popular among mountain bikers. “Mountain bikers are able to bank high on those turns and really ride smoothly through the transitions,” said Deitemeyer. It is fun, also fast. Making the trail mountain bikers and downhill only lowers chances of near misses and crashes.
