COLORADO – Governor Jared Polis responded Tuesday after several Colorado sheriffs have come out against the Red Flag Bill.

Many, with the backing of their county commissioners, have promised not to enforce the bill if it were to become law.

The governor said he believes the sheriffs are committed to following the law but also said it’s up to them to decide which issues to focus on.

Polis said, “Sheriff’s have the ability to prioritize resources with regard to law enforcement.”

He also said he encourages the bill’s backers to work with law enforcement to address their concerns.
