Funeral services scheduled for CDOT worker killed on the job

EAGLE COUNTY — Funeral services have been scheduled for a full-time CDOT worker and firefighter who served his community for years in Eagle County.

Eric Hill was killed Saturday, March 16th while working with a crew on North Frontage Road near Dotsero.

CDOT says Hill was hit by a front-end loader.

His life will be honored Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Eagle River Center at the Eagle County Fairgrounds. There will be a large procession involving Gypsum Fire, CDOT, Colorado State Patrol as well as friends and family members.

The public is invited to attend Saturday’s service.

In addition to working with CDOT, Hill was also a firefighter with Gypsum Fire Protection District for 19 years, worked with the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District and also worked as a Lieutenant and EMT in Eagle County as well as having previously served in the U.S. Air Force.

Hill is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
