PUEBLO COUNTY – A vote by Pueblo County Commissioners to approve or deny a permit for a new gravel pit in Avondale was postponed until Thursday. The decision came after several hours of testimony. Commissioners say they have so much new information they need time to review it.

Fremont Paving managers wants to mine gravel on land owned by the Pritekel family. They have known for years there are prime gravel deposits on the land. Several attempts at permits have been blocked. They recently got permit approval by the Pueblo Planning Commission. A group of property owners near the proposed site got together and went to County Commissioners appealing for a denial of the permit.
