COLORADO SPRINGS -Southbound lanes of I-25 are back open between Bijou St. and Uintah St. after a crash in the area at around 7 p.m. Saturday that closed the interstate for nearly four hours.
Colorado Springs Police say at that time an officer responded to calls of a suspicious person near W. Uintah St. and Wood Ave.
The officer got out of his cruiser to approach that person, when they got inside the cruise, drove off, and crashed.
The cruiser can be seen in the median, and CSPD says it rolled several times.
‘[It’s] pretty difficult to explain what all those emotions are, our officers everyday are facing threats and they continue to come right back out here,’ said Lieutenant Howard Black, CSPD spokesperson.

CSPD says the officer is okay, and the suspect suffered minor injuries.
In a rare sight, police put crime scene tape across the lanes during the investigation.
