ARAPAHOE COUNTY – An Arapahoe High School teacher was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of Sexual Assault on a Child, according to a release from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to reporting partner 9News in Denver, 41-year-old drama teacher Ian Ahren was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault on a Child – Position of Trust, Pattern (2 counts).

Investigators reportedly said a Safe2Tell tip lead them to open the case against Ahren. The tip said a young woman was victimized five-years-ago while she was Ahren’s student, according to 9News.

Ahrens has been a teacher at Arapahoe since 2010. He turned himself in at the Arapahoe County jail on Friday.

Superintendent with Littleton Public Schools, Brian Ewert emailed staff, students, and parents Friday. In the email, he said, “We take student safety extremely seriously. Therefore, immediate action was taken once we were notified of these allegations through Safe2Tell,” the letter read. “Based on their serious nature, Littleton Public Schools placed Mr. Ahern on administrative leave and the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.”
