On September 30, 2018, witnesses stopped him from fleeing the scene of a rolled over GMC truck that hit an SUV before flipping on W Colorado Avenue. As some helped keep Alexander detained for police, others tried to help the child ejected from the truck in the crash.

Colorado Springs Police said the child was not in a safety seat or restrained by a seat belt in the truck. There’s no update on the condition of the child as of January.

Alexander was originally charged with Felony Child Abuse, Vehicular Assault, Leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, and DUI.
