LAS ANIMAS COUNTY – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation announced Tuesday that the human remains found on Jan. 6th near the town of Aguilar have been identified.

Following an autopsy conducted by the Pueblo Coroner, it was determined the remains are of LeBrea Jackson, a 23-year-old woman who was reported missing to the Aurora Police Department last month.

The investigation into her death will be handled by the Aurora Police Department.

Deputies with the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office were called to the closed truck stop along I-25 on January 6th by people walking in the area.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation became involved due to their forensics expertise. Details on how Jackson died and in what condition her body was found have not been released.
