Ellicott High School teacher arrested on charge of sexual exploitation of a child

EL PASO COUNTY – Monday, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office announced that an Ellicott High School teacher has been arrested.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, an investigation began in December regarding child pornography. As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old Patrick McMahon was arrested.

The Sheriff’s Office said detectives contacted McMahon at Ellicott High School on Jan. 7th, and he was taken into custody without incident. McMahon has been book into the Criminal Justice Center on the charge of sexual exploitation of a child as is being held without bond.

The Ellicott High School Superintendent released the following statement:

“The District placed Ellicott High School teacher, Patrick McMahon on administrative leave. To our knowledge, the allegations do not pertain to any of our students in Ellicott and did not happen on district property or on district time. Ellicott Schools will be cooperating fully with the investigation. Please direct any questions to Ellicott School District Superintendent Chris Smith.”

The Sheriff’s Office said it does not believe there are any additional victims, but if anyone has information that may be relevant or feel they have been a victim in this case, they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (719) 520-6666.
