JEFFERSON COUNTY –  We’re learning more about a fatal accident on Christmas Eve on I-70 that killed two people.

The Colorado State Patrol says 62-year-old Cheri Goodard, a resident of Frederick Colorado, lost control of her vehicle, crossed the median and slammed into a vehicle driving in the opposite direction on I-70.

Both Goodard and 38-year-old Sancy Shaw of Clark Colorado, died at the scene of the collision. A six-year-old girl riding the back Shaw’s suburban was airlifted to a children’s hospital in critical condition.

No further information has been released as to the medical status of the child.

State Patrol has informed KOAA that they suspect Goodard was under the influence of both alcohol and marijuana at the time of the crash.

The call, which came in at 8:24 in the evening was not cleared until 1:13 am on Christmas day.
