State Patrol investigating two-vehicle crash near Johnson Village

JOHNSON VILLAGE – The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in serious bodily injury to one of the drivers.

The crash occurred Saturday morning on Highway 24 near mile marker 223, approximately 12 miles east of Johnson Village, CO.

A 2004 white Jeep Wrangler was eastbound on Highway 24 near mile marker 223.  A 2017 white Toyota
Corolla was westbound on Highway 24 near milepost 223. The Jeep lost control on the ice and slid across
the double yellow center line. The Jeep collided its front with the front of the Toyota. Both vehicles
came to a stop, blocking the westbound lane.

Both occupants of the Jeep were transported to Heart of The Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida,
the driver with minor injuries, and the passenger with no injuries. The driver of the Toyota was
transported to Heart of The Rockies Regional Medical Center with serious bodily injuries.

Excessive speed for the conditions is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash
