EL PASO COUNTY – Investigators with the Colorado Springs Fire Department determined that the “careless discarding of smoking materials” caused a fatal structure fire late last Wednesday.
Firefighters also said there were no working smoke alarms found or recovered inside the home. The fire happened at a mobile home off of Western Drive in the Springs Roberts Communities just east of Colorado Springs.
Firefighters discovered a man’s body once the fire was extinguished.
The El Paso County coroner’s office has not released the victim’s name at this time.
