LARKSPUR – A 19-year old man from Aurora is dead after he stepped in front of a box truck in the right lane on southbound I-25 after Larkspur at about 4:15 a.m. Monday morning.

The impact from the truck threw the man into the left lane where he was struck by or run over by another vehicle. The driver of the box truck is a 23-year old man and he stayed on the scene. He was not injured in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle did not remain on the scene and the Colorado State Patrol is hoping someone who witnessed the accident may have information on the second vehicle. CSP troopers say the vehicle may have some minor damage and they don’t think the driver is aware of exactly what they hit on the highway. They are hoping to speak to the person and are not seeking any charges against the driver.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for roughly four hours and reopened at about 8:15 a.m. The 19-year old man was declared deceased on the scene. His name is not being released until his next of kin can be notified of his death.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Colorado State Patrol at 303-239-4501, reference case # 1C183745.
