COLORADO SPRINGS – Springs Police say a suspect fired a gun while robbing a Wendy’s restaurant at Academy and Montebello Tuesday night.

Police said a man armed with a handgun robbed the restaurant a little before 8 p.m., while numerous people were inside. No one was hurt when the man fired his gun.

The suspect wore a mask and wore winter clothing. This is at least the second robbery in recent weeks where a suspect fired a shot while robbing a fast food restaurant in Colorado Springs.

Recently,  a suspect fired a single shot while robbing the Subway at Academy and Palmer Park on Nov. 21.  In that robbery, a clerk suffered minor injuries.

The suspect in that robbery was described as a heavy-set 5’8 white man who was wearing jeans. Police said he might have left in a four-door sedan.

Police have not said if these two cases are related.
