FREMONT COUNTY – Cañon City is rescuing a struggling art center. The city council voted to assume operations and oversee finances of the “Fremont Center for the Arts.”
Financial problems plagued the center and they weren’t able to expand any of their programs, make building repairs or promote events. People who enjoy the center say they’re thrilled that the center will be sticking around.
The mayor tells News5 that they didn’t want the historic building to be sold. The city already operates
other public venues and hopes to integrate programs moving forward.
