MONUMENT – CDOT is closing I-25 in both directions between Monument Hill and the Highway 105 exit overnight Thursday night. Crews will start closing lanes down at 8:00 p.m. and the lanes will be fully closed from 9:00 p.m. tonight until 5:00 a.m. Friday morning.
Traffic will be funneled through one single lane through the truck weigh stations along the interstate. Officials at CDOT originally planned to close just the southbound lanes on Wednesday night and then the northbound lanes on Thursday night. The decision was made Wednesday to just get pavement work and striping done in one night for both directions.

You can expect lengthy delays on I-25 Thursday night if you choose to stay on the interstate. You can also consider using Highway 83 as an alternate route. If you choose to use 105 as an alternate route, expect to find delays in the area near I-25 in Monument.
The work is all preparation for the Gap project that is currently underway between Tomah Rd. and the Plum Creek Pkwy. near Castle Rock. The Gap project is expected to take 3 years to complete and covers an 18-mile stretch of I-25 between Monument and Castle Rock.
