Parade participants get ready to light up downtown Pueblo

PUEBLO – People are preparing for an annual Pueblo tradition that will light up downtown.

The 29th annual Pueblo Parade of Lights is set for Saturday, Nov. 24. The parade, which runs through downtown Pueblo, has more than 80 entries. The theme for this year, Caroling in the City.

“It is just the greatest thing, getting ready for the holidays,” said Mike Carlisle, parade chairman.

The parade is set to start at 5:30 p.m. It starts at Colorado Ave. and Abriendo and passes by the Rawlings Library and down Union Avenue over the Arkansas River bridge and past the riverwalk before ending on 6th street between Court and Grand.

The parade is just a part of a weekend of events. The Pueblo Toyota Holiday Lighting Extravaganza is on Friday along the riverwalk from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“We got a great weekend right here in town and that’s what everybody is used to and we’re glad that this tradition is going to continue,” said Carlisle.
