COLORADO SPRINGS – Thanksgiving is just over a week away and one local charity is on a mission to help our neighbors in need.

The Marian House in Colorado Springs is hosting their 5th annual “Stuff the Bird” Event to kick off their food drive, but they need your help!

We spoke to one family about just how much this Thanksgiving staple means to them.

“Every time they go to the store they’re always looking at the turkeys,” explained mother of three Pratiba Perry.

For the Perry family, having a turkey on the table hasn’t always been a given.

“Last year we didn’t have one,” continued Perry. “We made potato salad and green beans.”

With three kids and another on the way, Pratiba says making a Thanksgiving meal for the whole family is no easy task.

“They eat a lot,” said Perry. “They eat up my whole house, so yes this will definitely help.”

This year, thanks to the Marian House, they’re looking forward to their very own turkey, and of course all the sides to go with it!

“They’re going to be happy,” added Perry. “My kids are going to love it.”

You can help families just like the Perrys. Drop your donations off at the Marian House at 14 West Bijou Street between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They’ll be accepting turkeys through December, but they need those donations by this Friday Nov. 16th to get them on families’ Thanksgiving tables.

Normal drop off hours are Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
