COLORADO SPRINGS – A man who caused a scene at a Colorado Springs Starbucks twice on Saturday is now jailed on charges of trespassing and obstruction.

Officers were called to the Centennial and Garden of the Gods as people believed a man had tried to abduct a child from the coffee shop. According to police, there was a lot of speculation about the incident across social media.

A woman claimed on Facebook, “Someone attempted aggressively to abduct my son today.”

While officers determined 38-year-old Carl Black’s contact with the boy was “odd and inappropriate” he had not committed a crime. Black was interviewed and released.

A few hours later, officers were once again called to the shop as customers claimed Black was being aggressive and encouraging his pit bull to be aggressive. Black was nowhere to be found inside the Starbucks, yet officers determined he was hiding under a blanket inside his van.

According to police, Black refused to come out and refused to even acknowledge the officers were trying to speak with him. So, the officers called a tow truck to have the vehicle towed. That’s when Black came out. As he was being cuffed his dog was taken to the Pikes Peak Humane Society for the time being.
