One dead, two seriously injured in crash at Cimarron and Nevada

COLORADO SPRINGS – Police said one person died after being ejected from their car while making a turn at an intersection in downtown Colorado Springs.

Police said the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Nevada Avenue and Cimarron Street.  Colorado Springs Police Lt. Howard Black said the person who was killed was hit while turning left from Nevada onto westbound lanes of Cimarron when they were hit by a car traveling southbound on Nevada. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Black said a woman and a child in the other car suffered serious injuries, but they are expected to survive.  Police are still investigating who’s at fault in the crash.

All lanes of Nevada and Cimarron were reopened around 10 a.m.

This is the 45th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs so far in 2018, which adds to the highest total in Colorado Springs history.
