PUEBLO – Pueblo Police were not a fan of one man’s  Halloween costume after it caused a scare in a neighborhood late Wednesday night.

Officers rushed to a home on the northwest side of the city just before midnight on Halloween on a report of a man pacing outside with an assault rifle.

Police quickly learned the man was part of a group that showed up uninvited to a Halloween party at a home in the 2600 block of Norwich, which is near W. 29th Street and Lowell Avenue.

They said when he wasn’t allowed inside, he paced outside of the house for some time. That gained attention from neighbors, who called police.  Guests at the party told officers that the rifle was fake and was part of his costume.

In a tweet posted just after midnight Thursday morning, PPD CaptainTom Rummel wrote in part, “Mass shooter – probably not the best costume idea ever.”
