COLORADO SPRINGS – Police released the identity of the woman killed in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash in southeast Colorado Springs Sunday night.
Officers identified the woman as 40-year-old Essence Grant. Police originally posted that they had trouble reaching her family to notify them of her death, but they said Grant’s sister called them.
The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of S. Academy Boulevard and Astrozon Boulevard. Grant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Elizabeth Bennett, 29, was arrested following the crash and will likely face charges for vehicular homicide and for driving under the influence “of a suspected drug.”
