LONE TREE – Firefighters with the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority said two people escaped without injuries from a plane crash in Douglas County Friday morning.

Firefighters tweeted video showing a small plane crashed in a field southeast of the Lincoln Avenue exit and I-25. Firefighters said the plane made a hard landing, and there was no fire when it landed.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. The NTSB and local police will handle the investigation and removing the plane from the field.

This is the second plane crash in recent months in the area. One person was killed in May when their plane crashed near a neighborhood in Parker, sending plane parts flying into nearby homes.
