COLORADO SPRINGS – The District Attorneys office decided not to pursue charges against a woman accused of killing her fiance in July.
The District Attorney’s Office argued there is sufficient evidence to suggest Souza acted in self-defense. The judge in the case granted a prosecution request to dismiss the case.
Jacqueline Souza, age 31, was arrested on July 21st for second-degree murder after police found Brandon Watkins dead in their home on Cabana Circle. Officers had been called out for a disturbance at the address.
Despite the best efforts of officers and medics, Watkins died as the result of being stabbed in the chest with a steak knife. The couple had argued recently over accusations of infidelity.
