COLORADO SPRINGS – The final Wald-Waldo 5-K Fun Run Fundraiser will be held this Saturday in Colorado Springs.
The event started six years ago to help restore and protect areas affected by the Waldo Canyon Fire. Nearly four thousand runners, all dressed like Waldo, are expected to attend.
Organizers say that limited access to the costumes has forced organizers to shut the event down after this year and find other ways to raise money.
“We’ve helped with erosion barricades, planting willow saplings up there. We’ve helped with sandbagging the restaurants, you know, with the monsoon season, we’ve helped to protect them as well,” said …..
The run will go from the Pioneer’s Museum downtown to Colorado College and back. The group picture is at 9:30 Saturday morning. The first wave of runners will start at 9:45.
