COLORADO SPRINGS – A local credit union is giving back to the community by filling piggy banks with cash. Air Academy Federal Credit Union employees are helping others by placing ”payback piggys” at random places in Colorado Springs.

Staff placed 150 banks with $50 in each across the city on Wednesday. The employees themselves pick the spots and have been impressed with the feedback.

“We’ve had stories where teachers have found them and purchased clothes for students. We had people donate to the Humane Society. We had one come in already this morning where $50 was given to a homeless family,” explained Kira Schubert.

The employees say it’s all about giving back and they hope to continue the tradition twice a year.
