COLORADO SPRINGS – The U.S. Trucking School is trying to figure out how to deal with a shortage of truck drivers, and they’re targeting veterans to fill the void.
“They adapt to situations on the fly,” said Quenton Ward with Werner Enterprises.
Werner Enterprises was just one of several trucking companies taking part in an industry wide job fair on Wednesday. Prospective drivers got the change to explore what jobs are being offered, and veterans, they are a perfect fit for the role.
“Their training has taught them to be independent and work with little to no supervision,” Ward said. “Which is essential when you’re out there on the road.”
Not only are veterans independent, they are also good at things like planning, prioritizing time and time management.
