MONUMENT – Search and rescue crews are getting ready to head back out to search for a missing hiker in the Mt. Herman area this morning. They had to suspend their search Monday night because the terrain in the area is rugged and is too dangerous to navigate in the dark.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jacqueline Kirby said 20-year-old Kevin Rudnicki went hiking Sunday morning and hasn’t returned home.

Rudnicki is 5’9 and weighs 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, khaki cargo shorts with tan boots and a University of Wyoming baseball cap.

Rudnicki was last seen on the trail by one of his teachers around 8:45 a.m. Sunday.

Kevin Rudnicki was reported missing on Sept. 3, 2018 in the Mt. Herman area.

K9’s and the search and rescue team will be out at first light to see if they can locate Rudnicki. He’s  known to camp in the area, so he might be familiar with the terrain.

If anyone has seen him or has any information about his disappearance, call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office right away at 719-520-7100.
