Large call centers here in Colorado Springs have been laying people off and closing their doors since December.

The latest announcement comes from Conduent, who says they plan to lay off over 400-people and completely close their call center on Garden of the Gods Rd. by this October.

The New Jersey-based company sent a notice to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment last Friday.

361 customer care associates, 37 customer care supervisors and managers, 11 workforce administration and training associates and one other manager, are all affected by the layoffs.

Back in 2016, the company laid off 350-people from the call center.

Alorica, a large call center that was located on Corporate Drive,  closed its operations on December 31st, 2017 and laid off 288 employees.  AStarTek, another large call center,  laid off 261-people when they closed their doors last March.

On that note, Charter Communications is holding a hiring event Wednesday afternoon from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. They have positions open for customer service reps, billing agents, and technical support representatives.
