Parents and kids at Nancy Lewis Park on Sunday to take yoga for a ‘Peaceful Warriors’ fundraiser

As parents make sure they have updated medical records and school supplies for their students, some parents are looking at incorporating something else this school year: Yoga.

While it’s grown in popularity throughout the nation, it’s also becoming more common for schools to have some type of yoga or meditation in the classroom.

Peaceful Warriors, a local group in Colorado Springs, wanted to make sure more students had access to yoga at school.

‘Oh everybody needs yoga,’ said Lenora Degen, co-found of Peaceful Warriors, ‘that’s what I think anyways.’

Which is why they started the organization, and now they’re offering scholarships- to make it affordable for every family.

Peaceful Warriors is currently scheduled to be in about a dozen schools in Colorado Springs, namely Title I schools.

The organization is offering scholarships to anyone to make sure all students can attend.

‘Kids are so open to this stuff, so much more than adults,’ said Degen.
