Two people are hospitalized, including a deputy, after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 24 early Sunday morning.

Colorado State Patrol tells News 5 that the driver of a sedan was eastbound on Highway 24 when they drifted into the westbound lane and collided with an El Paso County deputy's vehicle.

The driver of the sedan was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.

The deputy was taken transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Colorado State Patrol believe the deputy only suffered minor injuries.

Highway 24, between Elbert Road and Stapleton Road, is closed because of the accident. There is no estimate when it will reopen.
