SIMLA — Two people were killed in a crash Thursday morning involving a semi-truck on Highway 24 near Simla, according to Colorado State Patrol officials.

State Patrol said the crash was between Simla and Limon near Elbert County Road involving a semi-truck and a vehicle. The two people who died were in the vehicle and the 39-year-old driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.

The crash was first reported around 6:40 a.m., but state troopers said it took a while to arrive because of the snow and road conditions. Both directions of the highway reopened around 12:50 p.m.
