1 dead following officer-involved shooting in Pueblo

PUEBLO — A 43-year-old man in Pueblo is dead following an officer-involved shooting, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

The Pueblo County Coroner identified the man as Kevin Pulido, of Pueblo. The department said that around 5:30 p.m. a man with a gun was walking around the area of Jackson Street and Mesa Avenue. A resident in the area called 911 to report Pulido approached her, asking if she had seen the police because they were were looking for him.

The woman told police Pulido had a handgun in his waistband, "manipulated the action as if he was chambering a round," and the put it back in his waistband.

Pueblo Police said when an officer arrived to the scene, Pulido pointed a gun at them. The officer passed along his description and the direction he was headed to other officers responding to the scene.

A short time later, officers found Pulido in the 1100 block of Bragdon Avenue. The department said three officers shot Pulido and he died at the scene.

Police said a witness reported Pulido had fired at officers, but they are working to determine whether it happened or not.

The Tenth Judicial District Critical Incident Team is investigating the officer-involved shooting. The three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave per standard protocol.
