GREELEY, Colo. — The Weld County Jail is suspending personal visitation for inmates after 23 tested positive for COVID-19, the sheriff's office announced on Wednesday.
The sheriff's office last week tested 392 of the 468 inmates at the jail. Of the 23 who tested positive, all have been asymptomatic, the sheriff's office said. A second-round of testing across the jail will take place in two weeks.
Attorney will still be allowed to visit inmates at the jail.
Statewide, the Department of Corrections suspended visitations at state prisons in March, at the onset of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Weld County Jail previously had 12 positive case of coronavirus among inmates and 20 cases among employees, according to last week's outbreak data from the state.
