PUEBLO — The COVID-19 test site at the State Fairgrounds will temporarily move starting Monday.

Friday workers set up tents in the parking lot at Arroyo and Acero, just outside the Fairgrounds.

The new site will remain in place until after the State Fair, which starts next Friday, August 28.

County health officials say they don't think the new site will affect traffic in the area.

"I don't believe there's going to be any congestion. We've worked closely with the City and the County to prepare this, so there will be traffic control and monitoring. If people will come in off of Arroyo, I think that, that will help and the flow will be natural right back out," said Pueblo County Public Health Director Randy Evetts.

The testing site will return to the State Fairgrounds at the animal barns starting September 14.

County health leaders also say they are concerned about lower turnout at the testing site in the past couple of weeks.

They say they're worried people who need to be tested are not getting one.

Testing is available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
