COLORADO SPRINGS — A second block of Tejon is being added to the Downtown Partnership's summer program called Dine Out Downtown.

The program allows restaurants to utilize outdoor spaces to seat customers. The block of South Tejon Street between Pikes Peak and Colorado avenues was closed last weekend for the soft launch, which the partnership said was very successful. So now, the block of North Tejon Street between Platte Avenue and Bijou Street will also be closed to traffic starting on June 26 and 27, and continuing through the summer. All cross streets will be open to traffic.

Currently, 11 restaurants are participating. CLICK HERE to see the full list.

Those with the Downtown Partnership said one of the restaurants that participated in the soft launch reported it was their best weekend since Valentine's Day. "I think for a lot of folks, even though they've been open for a couple of weeks, this weekend really started to represent the first step back toward actual normalcy, and normal numbers, and serving at a normal volume, or a volume closer to what they're used to," said Alex Armani-Munn, the economic development specialist with the Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs.

Reservations are recommended for Dine Out Downtown, because walk-ins are not guaranteed. If there is bad weather, there's a chance restaurants may not be able to move customers inside due to COVID-19 restrictions.
