ASD20 transitions a high school to eLearning, part of a middle school to eLearning

COLORADO SPRINGS — Academy District 20 continues to report more positive COVID-19 cases in its schools. An entire high school is transitioning to eLearning, part of a middle school will transition to eLearning, and there is an official outbreak at an elementary school.

Rampart High School will temporarily transition to eLearning, beginning Monday, Oct. 12 after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. 31 staff members are in quarantine, and the school could not operate safely with so many members in quarantine. In-person learning will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

A student from Timberview Middle School’s Pack 743-1 Silver is displaying COVID-like symptoms. The student has not tested positive, but the symptoms require the student and Pack 743-1 Silver students and teachers to quarantine for 14 days. All Silver and Blue students will transition to synchronous learning beginning Monday, Oct. 12, due to all four pack teachers being quarantined. Pack 743-1 students and teachers will return to their in-person Silver and Blue hybrid schedule on Monday, Oct. 26.

A student or staff member tested positive for COVID-19 at Legacy Peak Elementary on Wednesday, and on Friday, another student or staff member tested positive from that same class. According to El Paso County Public Health this is considered an outbreak. No students or staff have tested positive for COVID-19 outside of this class.
