James Cohen, who comes from the family that started Hudson News, has reportedly agreed to by the supermarket tabloid “National Enquirer” for $100 million.
Hudson News operates bookstores and newsstands at airports across the country.
The Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal first reported news of the sale.
American Media Inc., which currently owns the Enquirer, has felt recent pressure after the Enquirer was accused of trying to tilt the 2016 Presidential election in favor of Donald Trump. It has also been at odds with Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos in recent months.
