(WNBW/NBC News) – Investigators say a Good Samaritan paying for meals at a Gainesville, Florida Waffle House was shot to death after an argument over his actions.

Investigators say Craig Brewer, 41, was paying for meals and giving out money to Waffle House customers when a woman became angry that he hadn’t picked up her tab.

Ezekial Hicks, 25, joined the confrontation. Witnesses say he exited the restaurant, returned with a handgun, and physically confronted Brewer. During their fight, Brewer was shot three times.
