PARADISE, CA – A small group gathered Thursday morning to see a bear statue that survived last summer’s Camp Fire move to its new home at the Paradise Police Station in California.

The bear once stood in front of Black Bear Diner, which was destroyed in the fire.  A crane delivered the statue to its new home.

Those who live in Paradise and representatives from Black Bear Diner say they’re happy the bear will remain in town.

“Originally we were thinking of moving it to Mt. Shasta, CA, Back to our original diner,” said Jolisa Johnson from Black Bear Diner. “And when we made that announcement the community let us know that the bear was really important to them here.”

There’s been no decision so far on if a new Black Bear Diner will be built in Paradise.
