DENVER – Monday, Governor Polis signed a bill that will require all school health classes to provide information about state laws regarding the safe abandonment of newborns.
State law allows a parent to hand over an infant who is up to 72-hours-old to any employee at a fire station or hospital with no questions asked.
According to Colorado Safe Haven for Newborns, as of March 2016, 51 babies have been safely dropped off.
