Town of Monument to demolish historic arch

MONUMENT — The arch that has stood at the entrance of downtown Monument for years will be torn down Thursday morning.

The town says during a recent safety inspection they learned the arch over 3rd street had become unstable and the decision was made to take it down.

The work to bring down the large structure will happen Thursday, February 21st starting at 8:00 a.m. work is expected to last through 11:00 a.m.

During the work hours traffic will also be impacted, 3rd Street will be closed for the duration from Highway 105 to Beacon Lite Road.
