Leaving Facebook might actually be good for your emotional well-being. That’s according to a new study from researchers at NYU and Stanford.

But there’s a catch.

Spending less time on social media sites will give you more free time, but you might end up less informed.

The study also shows some positives for staying on Facebook. Researchers found social media can be a good source of entertainment, a way to be active in communities, and a place to socialize.

Most people who took part in the study chose to reactivate their accounts when the study was over, even though they said they used it less after logging back in.

The study’s results came out at the same time Facebook announced a record $6.9 billion profit, as well as more users in North America and Europe.

Those numbers are despite a number of privacy issues and scandals involving users’ data.
