PUEBLO – Three years of patience during the Ilex I-25 road construction in Pueblo should have a pay-off for drivers in about three weeks. “Working to try to have December 21st for the day where we’ve got everybody in the new lanes of traffic,” said CDOT Regional Engineer, Joe Deheart. Project managers want all lanes open before crews break for the holidays.

It is a major step to completion. “Where you’re at in the roadway is the ultimate configuration, but the surface is still temporary. We’re still in a construction zone,” said Deheart. Through the winter the winter the new lanes may seem a little bump because the final, and smoothest layer of pavement has to wait until spring.
