The holidays are here and many us are already starting to decorate, but before you pull out those decorations there are some safety tips to keep in mind!
Start by using lights that have been safety tested. LED lights are generally considered the safest option because they have a reduced fire risk and use less energy. This will also mean a cheaper electric bill. They also last the longest.
Incandescent bulbs produce a lot of heat, while LED’s produce hardly any.
Also, remember to be careful while you’re decorating and use the proper tools to hang your lights. If you have the right equipment you can put your Christmas lights up without even using a ladder.
Make sure you unplug all decorations before going to bed, and of course blow out any candles before you leave the room.
Another important reminder, don’t overload one electrical outlet with too many decorations!
