Fewer companies are holding holiday parties, analysts say #MeToo might be why

(NBC News) With a strong economy, it’s surprising to hear a lot of American companies are not having holiday office parties this year.

According to a survey by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, only 65 percent of companies are planning to throw a holiday party this year, and experts say the “Me Too” movement is to blame.

“Certainly, companies are worried about potential lawsuits, stemming from inappropriate behavior that happens typically at holiday parties, after hours, when there’s alcohol flowing,” said Andy Challenger of Challenger, Gray & Christmas

If they’re not canceling, other companies are limiting or eliminating alcohol served at annual office holiday parties.
