COLORADO SPRINGS – This Veteran’s Day marks the 100th anniversary of the end of Worl War I.

Monday, Pikes Peak Community College hosted a wreath-laying ceremony and reception focusing on the sacrifices and contributions of our military and their families.

The guest speaker at the event was Kristen Christy, the 2018 Air Force Spouse of the Year. She shared an important message about suicide prevention, after losing a loved one herself.

“Sometimes there is pride involved,” Christy said. “They don’t want to ask for help. They feel like they can do it on their own, but life is so much better together and we have so many resources in this community.”

Pikes Peak Community College has been serving active military, veterans, and their families for over 50 years. Currently, more than 26 percent of the school’s students are affiliated with the military.
