Haier Appliances is recalling 137,000 of their 10.1 cubic feet top-mount refrigerators due to an electrical component that can short circuit, posing a fire hazard.
While no injuries have been reported due to the problem, customers have complained of smoke and fire damage as a result of the flaw.
If you own one of these units, it is recommended you immediately stop using it and contact the company to schedule a free in-home repair. Or you could ask for a $150 rebate toward the purchase of a new unit.
The models included in the recall were manufactured from September 2014 through September 2018:
- HA10TG31SB
- HA10TG31SS
- HA10TG31SW
