COLORADO SPRINGS – Staff and students at District 20’s Pine Creek High School are mourning the death of assistant softball coach Peyton Reidel in a crash near Calhan.
The crash report from Colorado State Patrol states Riedel was heading east on Highway 24 just west of town when another driver fell asleep, causing a head-on crash.
Reidel died at the scene of the crash. Her passenger, 24-year-old Victoria Stevenson, was taken to UCHealth Memorial Central Hospital with serious injuries.
The other driver, 22-year-old Megan Mann of Colorado Springs, was flown to Penrose Hospital with serious injuries. State Patrol issued a summons to Mann to appear in court on charges related to the crash.
