COLORADO SPRINGS – A lockout has been lifted for three District 11 schools Monday.

The schools included Russell Middle School, Keller Elementary School, and Fremont Elementary School. The District posted on Twitter that the lockout was due to police activity in the area.

Students and staff all remain safe at this time.

Colorado Springs Police report they were called to a burglary in progress on nearby Mira Loma Circle.  The homeowner said someone was inside their house while they were away.

By the time officers arrived the suspect had already left the home. The lockdown was put in place as a K9 unit searched the area for a suspect. No one was found.
